I first adjusted the time to the next day and it popped from 25 to 26 normally. This is why the date felt stuck when you tried to turn the crown at quarter to 12:00. Sounds like now when you pull the crown out to position 3 and adjust date by winding the hands around, the date is changing at 5am ?
