It really depends on what you are going for. If you are going for more a more classic vibe, then go with the YSL. If you want a bag with a bit of an edge to it, go with the Valentino. The Valentino is definitely a statement bag while the YSL is not.
It's hard to open and doesn't look like it will soften up anytime soon. Capacity is very small, even for a medium. If you overstuff the bag, the flap will warp at an angle and tilt to the side.
